In the Fall of 2007, I began a journey into the future; a journey that started with college, specifically Clemson University. Yes, I was Tiger Town bound! Unfortunately, I had to leave my family behind with hopes of joining a new family here at Clemson. I really didn't know what to expect as many incoming freshmen don't. However, I knew that the next four years of my life were going to be the most crucial and difficult yet exciting times of my life!
So why did I choose Clemson?
Well, being a Mechanical Engineering major, I knew that I needed a quality education from well-trained professors. Clemson offered that. I wanted to be recognized for my talents and achievements and I didn't want to be another statistical number. Clemson offered that. I wanted to become part of a tight-knit collegiate family. Clemson offered that. I wanted to get involved in numerous organizations that I could assert myself in. Clemson offered that. So as you can see, going to Clemson was inevitable to me.
What has it been like so far?
I have thoroughly enjoyed myself here at Clemson. I love the atmosphere, the people, the professors, the community support etc. I have met numerous friends (many of different ethnics) that I can honestly call my second family here at Clemson. I have gotten involved with organizations that I would have never dreamed of joining. I have been to some of the most exciting football games with 81,473 of my closest friends. I have played games with friends on Bowman Field on those bright, sunny days, and I have joined snowball fights on Bowman Field on those cold, snowy days. However, academically speaking, I have had to challenge myself more than ever. I have had to study harder and longer than I have ever had to. Nevertheless, I did come to Clemson for one reason; to get a high quality education, and I expected to be challenged. Now even though the professors are challenging, the work is hard, and the days are long, at the end of the day, the sun still sets over Lake Hartwell and Clemson is still the greatest place on earth all because "there's something in these hills."
